Overview
Upper Eyelid Surgery, also known as Blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic and functional procedure that removes excess skin, muscle and fat from the upper eyelids. It restores a more refreshed appearance while reducing the heavy, tired look caused by ageing.
For some patients, excess eyelid skin can obstruct peripheral vision. Upper Blepharoplasty can improve both appearance and visual function, creating brighter, more youthful-looking eyes.

Surgical Technique
Preparation
The natural eyelid crease is carefully marked before surgery to ensure the incisions remain discreet and well concealed.
Removal of Excess Tissue
Excess skin, muscle and, where necessary, small pockets of fat are removed to restore a smoother, more youthful upper eyelid contour.
Closure
The incision is meticulously closed with fine sutures placed within the natural eyelid crease to minimise visible scarring.

The operation generally involves:
- Local or general anaesthesia.
- Carefully placed eyelid incisions.
- Removal of excess skin and tissue.
- Fine cosmetic suturing.
- Application of light dressings.
- Day-case discharge.
- Post-operative follow-up appointments.
